Inspire Day
If you joined us you will know what a truly inspiring day it was. Thank you to the amazing speakers and the huge variety in the topics they covered. And if you didn’t, well there is a chance to catch up with just a few of what these speakers had to say.
Graham Bower gave two sessions one on web design and a second on his amazing journey to recovery from cancer reproduced here.
Clive Hutchinson talked about the remarkably creative and very successful way in which he runs his business.
And Harry Key!! Well is he the up and coming challenge to Frank Farrelly? If you attended his sessions which were packed out, you will know, and Harry is hosting a programme that I am running in Australia in November this year. He has written about that below.
There were many other sessions and I am sure that we will repeat them sometime in the future. Thank you again to everyone who joined us for this celebratory day.
A Letter from Harry
Hello
I’m writing to encourage you to join us for NLP at Fernleigh, Sue Knight’s intensive in the Australian outback.

It’s going to be pretty special, and I’m writing to convince you that missing out would be a terrible loss (for us and for you!). It’s my job to effectively communicate (with words like this one) how awesomely cool the experience…Keep reading

Body Awareness as Healing Therapy The Case of Nora Moshe Feldenkrais
An amazingly detailed study of how Moshe Feldenkrais ‘modelled’ to use the NLP term – Nora to help restore her healthy functioning and her life. Has really helped me in my thinking about my support for Cheryl my friend who had a stroke and whose thoughts are in this newsletter
The other Boleyn Girl Philippa Gregory
Have a new found fascination with history having watched ‘The Tudors’ and love this author. I wish that my history teacher had brought history to life the way that she does, better late than never. And I found this so compelling I almost started to believe that Anne Boleyn was going to get a reprieve at the end!!

Cancer survival A talk by Graham Bower, 15th July 2010
“We are the lucky ones”
Three years ago, I was diagnosed with a rare form of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. After lots of tests and surgery, I was prescribed chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Fortunately, I responded so well to the chemo, that it turned out the radiotherapy was not necessary. Although my cancer is not curable, three years later I’m still here and there’s been no relapse. Which makes me very lucky.
My chemo was tough—although not half as bad as the regimes that some patients endure. Nonetheless, I had serious allergic reactions to my drugs, and some very bad infections. It was one of the most challenging moments in my life.
And yet, as I look back on the events of 2007, I find that I’m very glad that it happened. The experience precipitated some major changes in my life, and most of them were for the better. It may seem paradoxical, but it turns out that my experience is far from unique. The nurses at my hospital tell me it is quite common for patients to respond in this way… Keep reading
And my Dear Friend Cheryl
Since having a stroke last year many of you have been
following Cheryl's progress through her Blog and my updates on
Twitter and the like. And some of you met and heard Cheryl speak
on our Inspire Day and I believe were moved by her words and her
experience. I invited Cheryl to answer a few more questions
especially for those of you who did not make that day.
How are you doing Cheryl?
Well I am facing all the challenges that have come my way with
mostly a positive approach. It is challenging I have to say!!
Living with a sense of vertigo all the time, negotiating stairs
and friends homes. These are examples of a few of the
challenges
What would you say is your most significant’
learning through all of this?
Learning about my filters. I used to live in the present.. and I
am beginning to realise why. Now I have to live in the future
– thinking about what I will need, how I will manage and
what I will need to do what I want to do and I find it is a very
anxious place to be. I think that this is why I didn’t go
there before…
What is the biggest difference between your life now and
your life before… Keep reading

Awareness Through Movement
"To make the impossible possible, the possible easy, and the easy, elegant."
Moshe Feldenkrais
‘NLP for the body’ is one of the ways that I have always thought of Feldenkrais. A way of making new connections, of achieving an aligned and balanced state, of resolving pain, of rediscovering the flexibility we had when we were young… and a solution for physical restrictions..
I have been involved with Feldenkrais for years through my involvement with Garet Newell who trained with Moshe Feldenkrais in Israel. The training to be a Practitioner is now a four year one (it was 7 years not so long ago) and finally that window of opportunity opened for me to start my training as a Practitioner. And such joy in being a delegate on a programme and one in which I have permission to roll around on the floor all day (in a structured way of course). My first module was in July and I found a new core strength, amazing flexibility and more than all of that a new lease of life. I feel that this is opening up a whole new dimension to my work and life.
Maybe to tempt you to explore further…
…a definition:
The Feldenkrais method is an educational system that allows the body to move and function more efficiently and comfortably. Its goal is to re-educate the nervous system and improve motor ability. The system can accomplish much more, relieving pressure on joints and weak points, and allowing the body to heal repetitive strain injuries. Continued use of the method can relieve pain and lead to higher standards of achievement in sports, the martial arts, dancing and other physical disciplines and life and work as a whole. Pupils are taught to become aware of their movements and to become aware of how they use their bodies, thus discovering possible areas of stress and strain. The goal of Feldenkrais is to take the individual from merely functioning, to functioning well, free of pain and restriction of movement.
And when you watch a baby move we realise just what amazing learning beings we are.
