NLP in practice

by Tony Harvey

How about this for NLP in practice. I thought it might interest you.

My daughter Caroline often takes a long time to get to sleep. I asked her last night what she does when she does go to sleep. The dialogue went something like this ...

C

"I lay down"

T

"Yes"

C

"Then you close your eyes"

T

"Who closes their eyes?"

C

"You do"

T

"Am I going to sleep?"

C

"No"

T

"Who closes their eyes?"

C

"I do"

T

"Then what?"

C

"I try to go to sleep"

T

"How do you do that?"

C

"I don't listen to my voice"

T

"Where is your voice"

C

"In here" (pointing to her ears)

T

"Imagine your voice was sitting on your bed"

C

"He, he, he. Silly Daddy !!"

T

"If the voice was sitting on your bed, what would you say to it?"

C

"Let me get to sleep"

T

"Ok, try it"

She put all the steps together and three minutes later she was asleep. The night before she was trying to get a very wobbly milk tooth out. The tooth was clearly not going to see it through the night but it was taking a time to separate. Using visualisation of her finding the money the tooth fairy would have left by the next morning, she had it out within 5 minutes.

Still working on communication with others !!
