NLP and Fire Walking — Ashwin Trivedi — Friday, July 25, 2003

I have read books of Anthony Robbins 'Awaken The Giant Within' and 'Unlimited Power' where in he has mentioned about fire walking. I would like to know how it pertains to NLP. Can a person who has learnt NLP do fire walking? As i wrote to you earlier I have already undergone certified practitioner's programme , and I am looking forward to learn more.

Regards,

Ashwin

Sue's Answer

Dear Ashwin that is a good question. I suppose that fire walking is a demonstration of how we can manage ourselves to achieve what might otherwise seem to be the impossible. However in essence NLP is a process of modelling especially excellence so fire walking is a way of modelling internal resources that enable us to manage mind over matter. Maybe you should mail Anthony Robbins to see what he says. I think that the reason he does it is that he uses very high profile ways of showing how we can manage ourselves and if you do a fire walk it is certainly going to make the learning memorable. One of my more cynical associates said that the greater challenge would be to walk over cold damp moss and finish up with scorched feet!!

Best wishes, Sue Knight
