| NLP as a Cultural Phenomenon — Paula — Monday, August 04, 2003 |
Hello Sue! Many greetings from Poland! I am currently writing my M.A.thesis and it came to me that NLP should be treated not only as it is in its practical way, but also as a cultural phenomenon in the U.S..I would like to ask you if you could comment on this and direct me to some articles or web sites that are dealing with this issue, because somehow I could not find any that would be devoted specifically to this. I would highly appreciate your help with this one. Many kisses |

Dear Paula, I am very impressed that you are considering this as a topic as I believe that it is very important too. I think that the whole concept of modelling which is the heart of NLP is a major cultural change for most organisations. However where to find articles that is a good question. I do feel that Judith de Lozier and John Grinder addresses this issue in their book Turtles all the way down but it can be hard to get copies of this book at times but you might try amazon.com Some of my articles have alluded to this and you are welcome to use any of the ones that I have on my website. Although not specifically NLP I also feel that some of the cultural issues come across in Mark McKergow's book Solutions Focus. Mark presents on my Business Practitioner courses for this very reason. I will ask a few of my colleagues and see if they come up with any more ideas too and will get back to you if they do. Very sincerely, Sue Knight |
