| Human Resource Development? — Eric Teal — Monday, July 14, 2003 |
I have been told that NLP holds that the words we use affects the way we think. If that is true, why do you refer in your books and articles to HRD and human resouces? Is it that you do not understand that this leads managers to view their people as just another resource, like pencils and equipment requisition forms? Or do you think it doesn't matter as long as you use the same jargon as your clients? |

Dear Eric, or maybe there is more than just those reasons? Maybe I am matching the language of many of the business people with whom I am working and to whom I wish to relate and then perhaps I am leading them to another way of thinking. That is often the case. However I do take your point that the influence could go another way and I will certainly hold this in my thinking as I make my choices about how I express these issues in future. Thank you for your feedback and for your willingness to express it and challenge what I sometimes take for granted. Warm regards, Sue Knight |
