How to become an NLP Practitioner — Steve Pryer — Sunday, August 29, 2004

I was greatly inspired by Sue's book 'NLP at Work' which I read as part of the coursework for a coaching diploma I am studying for. How would Sue recommend me to approach a career change to become an NLP practitioner?

What courses would Sue recommend.

I already hold a B.Com and MBA and I am a Chartered Manager.

Sue's Answer

Dear Steve, thank you for the feedback on my book. I am pleased that you found it to be an inspiration. In response to your question on how to become a Practitioner I would suggest that you do the training which consists of the Introducing NLP course and then the NLP Business Practitioner. if you would like to talk through the possibiltiy of doing these with us just give my office a call on 01628 604438 and you can see more details of both of these programme on via my Training in the UK page. Do send us any more questions that you might have about this. I was interested in how you addressed me in the third person!

Sincerely,
Sue Knight

Hello Sue,

Thank you for the prompt feedback. Sorry for the third person phrasing which does seem odd!

Your book was on the reading list for the Positive Impact Coaching Diploma course which I have been studying on a distance learning basis via the Newcastle School of Flexible Learning.

I am also currently considering undertaking a Life Coaching course when I finish the Diploma course in the next few weeks. I wondered whether you feel that this would complement the NLP courses that you have recommended?

Also, as someone who has studied for an MBA with Henley Management College by distance learning and was one of the group that pioneered the web based Chartered Management qualification launched by the Chartered Management Institute I am confident that I have the drive and discipline to undertake my NLP studies via this route. Is it possible to study with your company by distance learning rather than attending formal courses?

Regards,
Steve

Dear Steve, you are very welcome. And with respect to your question about distance learning Yes you can do a foundation course this way but we do ask that delegates do their Practitioner training at least in part through attendance and practice with others on our courses. And yes the NLP is very complementary to coaching in fact I would say that it is the best approach for coaching that I have ever used. I have just developed a supplementary coaching module to our Business Practitioner and we are about to post dates for that on our web but I will attach the details for you to see in the meantime. So we could support you to the foundation (which is module one of the Practitioner training) via distance learning and could do a combination of classroom sessions and distance or remote managed learning for you for the Practitioner. For the coaching if you were to do that with us we would want you to do that in classroom as it is based on practical experience supervised with extensive feedback I hope that helps.

Sincerely,
Sue Knight
