Introduction
The master practitioner
And now we get to the heart of NLP-the modelling of excellence. In learning how to model you are learning how to find the resources (which might include beliefs, attitude, emotional state, skills, sense of self and purpose) that you need when and where you want them. And how do you learn to do that? By learning to model yourself and those you admire. In a way modelling is a process of benchmarking excellence particularly the unconscious parts of what truly makes a difference between great and good.
Every one of these courses is a unique journey as each participant works on their own choice of modelling project throughout the whole programme.
If you are not sure what NLP can really do for you this course will provide the answer. And nothing expresses it more eloquently than this:
The great affair, the love affair with life, is to live as variously as possible, to groom one's curiosity like a high-spirited thoroughbred, climb aboard, and gallop over the thick, sun-struck hills every day. Where there is no risk, the emotional terrain is flat and unyielding, and, despite all its dimensions, valleys, pinnacles, and detours, life will seem to have none of its magnificent geography, only a length. It began in mystery, and it will end in mystery, but what a savage and beautiful country lies in between.

We commit to work with you on this programme in a way that encourages you to live life to the full and to realise your true vocation in all that you do. My approach is associated, experiential and challenging. I work 'real time' so that we learn continuously from what is happening in our work and in our lives today and more especially in our interactions and life together at this time. This programme is one of the most innovative applications of NLP in business and life today.
And the trainer training
Previous participants have described this programme as not so much a course more an apprenticeship. If you want to know what I mean by this take a look at the Personalities page on this web and you will see there many of the previous participants, who are now colleagues and co-learners. One of my measures of success for this training is that you would be able to run any part of my open programmes and that is not a theoretical outcome; I expect and support you to do that if you wish. This training is for real. The outcome is a true WIN/WIN in that I develop my network of colleagues and we create a mutual trust to work together in ways that fit for all of us.
And you do not have to be a trainer for this programme to be relevant to you. If you have responsibility or just a desire to develop others then you will learn how to do that in a way that fits completely with your unique circumstances. So you may be a trainer but equally you may be a leader, a consultant, a parent, a facilitator, a manager, a coach, a friend. I will support you to work to your full potential and in so doing support others to do the same.
No-one expresses what I feel about what is important about how we can bring out the best in others than Parker J Palmer, author of the Courage to Teach who says
“As good teachers weave the fabric that joins them with students and subjects, the heart is the loom on which the threads are tied, the tension is held, the shuttle flies, and the fabric is stretched tight. Small wonder then that teaching tugs at the heart, opens the heart, even breaks the heart - and the more one loves teaching, the more heartbreaking it can be. The courage to teach is the courage to keep one's heart open in those very moments when the heart is asked to hold more than it is able to so that teacher and students and subject can be woven into the fabric of community that learning and living, require.”
I am very honoured to have had feedback that says that when I work with groups I aim to be an example of learning, connectedness through community, commitment, integrity, vulnerability and love. If those words represent a model from which you would like to draw learning then we will support you to do just that in this programme and beyond.
