“This place has got a lot going for it. Firstly, the hosts, Robin and Ginny are really welcoming and genuinely hospitable people. Although I was a paying guest, I felt as though I was staying with my good friends in their real home. I received an open, no pressure invitation to share in the family living space to watch TV and join in the friendly chat and banter as and when I wanted to. I stayed in their double room which although is not massive, is comfortable, warm and clean. I thought I would miss the tea making facilities and the TV in my room when I first got there but because of the free access to the kitchen and living spaces this was much less of an issue than I anticipated. Plus I was so tired after a day with Sue that, frankly, I appreciated the peace and quiet! No en suite meant that I had to share a bathroom and loo with one other guest but there were no embarrassing clashes, so again, this was not a problem. There was a good selection on offer for breakfast. I went for a light breakfast and I suggest you do the same if you are planning on spending a day at Food Heaven… I mean Bix Manor! And talking of Bix, Orchard Dene Cottage is just a very short drive away and Ginny very kindly gave me a lift there every morning with an offer to pick me up at the end of the day if I needed it. I have already booked my room for the rest of the course because in my opinion Orchard Dene Cottage is a delightful, inexpensive place to stay that does more than it says on the tin!” — Dion Johnson, March 2010 “I stayed at Orchard Dene cottage and it was perfect. So close to the venue, very friendly welcome, pristine accommodation with nice attention to detail, and an excellent breakfast. ” — Anita Houghton, October 2005 |

“I stayed at Orchard Dene. It was very nice, the Landlord and Landlady were most accommodating and helpful. Given the very reasonable price it was great value.” — Kevin Hayes, October 2005 |
